The NW of China has been hit by some crazy weather recently, with sandstorms sweeping over Gansu province in the past few days. Now Urumqi , the capital of Xinjiang, is receiving its share of strange weather patterns with a freak snowfall on Wednesday.

Pedestrians shivered through the snow on their way to work and cars took cautions to drive carefully in the slippery conditions. Railway workers were drafted in early to help clear the tracks of snow as 12 lines in Southern Xinjiang and Gansu province were halted due to strong gales.

Unfortunately it seems that there is more bad weather to come as the local meteorological bureau has issued a blizzard warning, so wrap up warm!
