A South Korean man driving in Dongguan in Guangdong Province was recently prosecuted for drunk driving and was sentenced to two months of detention with a three-month suspended sentence. He was also fined 5,000 RMB.

According to the police report, on August 19th at 9:15, South Korean businessman “Li”, while waiting at an intersection for the light to turn green, fell asleep in his car. A blood test administered after the incident showed that his blood alcohol level was 139.92mg alcohol per 100ml of blood. Chinese law defines intoxication as having a blood alcohol level of 20 mg alcohol per 100ml of blood.

According to the ruling of Dongguan People’s Court, Li was sentenced to 2 months of detention and fined 5,000RMB. However, since he pleaded guilty and did not further endanger the society, he got off lucky with only a three-month suspended sentence.

That Level of Intoxitation was equivalent to 7 beers. A bit much for driving.

He needs to go back to Korea and enjoy the sujou there!

However be forewarned. 0.02 blood alcohol level (which will get you into trouble in China) can occur in a 160 lb man who has consumed 1- 12 oz. beer.

As usual China takes a good thing ( keeping drunks off the road) and goes overboard with it.

I have a Chinese license (since 05) and never drink a drop and drive!

HA HA LOL

No surprise there. I lived in South Korea for a few years, where alcohol flows from the tap and vomit splats decorate the streets and sidewalks to your hearts delight. Drinking and driving in Korea? That's like ice hockey in Canada! Best part is the cops in Korea don't care. I'm glad they caught his ass. Should have kicked his ass a few times then sent him back to Korea wrapped in Kimchi with a steering wheel pierced through his nostrils.
