On February 19 at 17:00, Shenzhen Port customs officials found 10 undeclared iPad mini devices hidden in the backpack of a 16-year-old high school student. After assessing the situation, the officials concluded that the boy was probably traveling with legal guardians so they went out into the greeting hall, where they quickly noticed a suspicious middle-aged man with luggage waiting. Hidden inside the luggage they found another 11 undeclared iPad mini devices. Shortly after, 5 more iPad mini devices were found on a third individual in the same entry location. After questioning the three parties, officials learned that the three were in fact family members (son, father and grandfather) and that they’d purchased the devices in Hong Kong to be sold at Shenzhen’s Huaqiang North Market.
