Expats to be Included in the Qingdao Census for the First Time
Jul 05, 2010 By , eChinacities.com

On July 2nd, the Qingdao municipal government held a conference discussing plans for completing the city’s 6th general census count. Licang District (Nanshan community) has been picked as the overall sample for studying Qingdao’s population distribution. All other districts in the city can pick their own communities as samples to check for population distribution in their respective areas. Work on the new census will begin July 20th.

Expats living in the city will be included in the census count for the first time this year. Those persons residing long term (likely those on year-long Z or X visas) in China at the time of a census, including residents from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and expats from other countries, are by law to be registered in the count. Those staying in China for short term business or travel are excluded.
