Excessive Heat Warnings Issued in Xinjiang and Urumqi

On the afternoon of June 15th, at around 16:00, the Xinjiang Weather Bureau issued excessive heat warning for the area from June 16-19. Most regions in the area are expected to have high temperatures above 35℃, with some regions reaching 37℃ to 40℃. Temperatures in the Turpan, Shanshan, and Tuokexun valleys could reach as high as 43℃ - 45℃ during this time.

The Urumqi Weather Bureau also issued an excessive heat warning for the city on the afternoon of June 15th. Temperatures are forecast to be around 34℃ on June 16th. From June 17-19, Midong District and the city’s northern suburbs could have highs above 37℃. The downtown area will be a little bit cooler, with highs around 35-37℃. Residents are advised to keep out of the sun and watch out for fire hazards in the excessive heat.
