During morning rush hour on Tuesday Dec 14th, an escalator at Shenzhen Guomao subway station suddenly reversed direction while moving upwards. Some passengers fell backwards causing those behind them to be trampled. 24 people were injured in the accident.
The Shenzhen metro company said that the incident is still under investigation.
