Kunming Economic and Technological Development Zone

The Kunming Economic and Technological Development Zone is located in the eastern part of the city and is a key area of development for the next 5 years in Kunming. The Zone has a planning area of 13.5 square kilometers, with 4 square kilometers already fully developed. The government aims to build the Development Zone into a diverse industrial base for Yunnan Province and a key center for rehabilitating traditional industries, cultivating emerging industries and promoting international trade.?

Major?enterprises already operating in the Zone include the Yunnan Kunlene Film Industry Co. Ltd., the Kunming Molins Tobacco Machinery Co. Ltd., the Yunnan Yunhui Freight Co. Ltd., the Salim Group of Indonesia, the Yuntian Chemical Industry Group and the Zhongqin Yilan Group. In 2006, the Zone attracted domestic investment of 3.2 billion RMB and foreign investment of US$31.4 million.

Kunming Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone

The Kunming Hi Tech Industrial Development Zone has a planning area of 11.5 square kilometers and encompasses the Liangjiahe new area, the Jinding science and technology garden and the Yunnan non-governmental scientific and technological garden. It has become a new source of economic growth for Kunming.

Major industries in the Zone include bio-technology and bio-pharmaceuticals, electronic information engineering, optical-electromechanical engineering, integrated engineering and new materials. The Kunming Hi Tech Industrial Development Zone will further strengthen its service center for incubation of new enterprises and its role as a science park for university-led academic and commercial cooperation.

By the end of 2006, there were more than 2,600 enterprises in the Zone, including from 25 countries and regions such as the U.S.A., Russia, Britain, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Yanglin Industrial Development Zone, Yunnan

The Yanglin Industrial Development Zone is a provincial development zone located in Songming County in northeast Kunming, 34 kilometers from the downtown and next to the Kunming International Airport. The Gui-Kun railway, Kun-Qu expressway, Dian-Qian highway and the Kun-Zhao highway go through the development zone and the Zone is also the gateway to the Kun-Qu Industrial Economic Corridor. The Zone has a planning area of 15.5 square kilometers, with 7.48 square kilometers already developed. With preferential policies and complete infrastructure facilities, the zone is a comprehensive economic zone which can service the needs of any foreign investment initiative.

Some key enterprises already in the zone are the Carlsberg Group Kunming Huashi Beer Co. Ltd., the Yunnan Tianchuang Technology Co. Ltd., the Technico Horticultural (Group) Co. Ltd., the Kunming Wantong Metallurgy and Chemistry Co. Ltd. and the Kunming Yuncheng Plate-making Co. Ltd.
