Dalian Entertainment Overview

The lively city of Dalian offers a diverse range of entertainment in its parks and leisure spots. Dalian is one of the major football cities in China, and its residents are passionate about the local club, Dalian Shide. The stadium is packed out for every home match, and there's a massive screen in the Zhongshan Park so that ticket-less fans can still enjoy the game.

Badminton, ping-pong and go-kart racing are immensely popular in Dalian, and the Dishi Kart Racing Center on the eastern side of the city has an excellent track.

In the summertime, people go to Fujiazhuang Beach to catch some rays and surf the tides. Weekends are fun times at the beach, for those that can stand the crowds.

Dalian has a fine selection of bars and clubs for a second-tier city. They can be found around Wuwu Road and Sanba Square. Those interested in a calmer environment should head for the squares where locals nightly gather to play games, practice their traditional Chinese ballroom dancing, or learn new steps.

Summer time is the peak season, but city's major festivals draw huge numbers of visitors whenever they occur. The Spring Festival, and its Fireworks Festival, the Dalian Acacia Festival, the Dalian International Beer Festival, and even a cold water swimming contest ensure that the city's hotels are occupied for most of the year.

Dalian is also dotted with theaters and cinemas. Some of these offer Peking Opera shows, and other folk and cultural performances.
