A passenger ship carrying more than 400 people was hit by a tornado and capsized last night in the Hubei section of the Yangtze River.
CCTV News reported that a massive rescue mission has been underway, and more than 20 passengers have been rescued including the ship's captain and chief engineer.
The ship was carrying 447 passengers including 397 travelers, a five person travel agent staff, and 45 crew members.
The cruise ship was traveling from Nanjing to Chongqing, and was hit in the Jianli section of the Yangtze River.
The small cruise ship, “Eastern Star,” is owned by Chongqing Orient Lines.
The Jianli section of the Yangtze River has experienced heavy rains for the past 24 hours. CCTV reported that the area is still experiencing moderate rain.

Comments on the international news of this story are saying that the majority of the passengers were elderly, and that the capt "jumped ship" early...the coward. Other comments include "haven't Asians learned from other sinking boat disasters in recent memory ??? (aka Korean Ferry disaster)".

I feel really sorry about this news. I took that cruise once and loved it. Tornados and cyclones are very strange and unpredictable. Pray for the families.
