During the APEC summit, emergency calls related to criminal cases dropped 71 percent, Ecns news quotes the Beijing police as saying.

During this time period, road accidents and traffic jams were also reduced by 44 percent and 79 percent respectively since the summit started on November 1. Likely causes are the reduction in people and traffic in the city, the 28,000 extra police officers on the streets, and the 768 cameras added.

The police even had a huge explosives robot at the ready that was ready to deal with any bomb emergencies.
