Apr 06, 2016 By eChinacities.com

Shaanxi has cracked down on forced shopping in group tours. A new law passed on April 1 states that tour organizations cannot force clients to spend money at a particular store. Offenders will face fines up to 500,000 Yuan.

The new regulations stipulate that the goods and service provided by the organization to tourists must be clearly defined. Tour guides cannot use deceptive, misleading language or pictures in order to trick clients and force them into purchasing items.

Tour operators who change prices on clients will be fined 500 to 5,000 Yuan. Those who use deceptive language or pictures to trick clients into spending money will be fined 50,000 to 500,000 Yuan and any illegal income will be confiscated.

When tour operators sell coupons and tour packages they must make all parts of the tour clear including the number of guests on the tour, and any shopping stops.
