Construction Finished on Shanghai-Chongqing G-50 Hu-Yu Expressway

Construction on the Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway, also known as the G50 or Hu-Yu, finished late last year and the road has been open to traffic since Dec 19,h 2009. The expressway spans a total of 1,768 km from Shanghai to the Zhucheng district of Chongqing City. On the new expressway, the trip from Chongqing to Yichang takes 6 hours; Chongqing to Wuhan is roughly eight and a half hours; and Chongqing to Shanghai only takes about 17 hours (travel by express train from Chongqing to Shanghai currently takes a little over 30 hours).
