This past week a seldom seen, large-scale smog enveloped China that successively included some 25 provinces, over 100 cities with varying levels of air pollution. The smog covered one half of China’s total land mass.
However, this smoggy weather has taken a turn for the better starting from today. According to a report by the Central China Meteorology Center, a cold front will arrive on December 9 and impact the central and eastern parts of the country. The greater portion of areas below the Yang-tze River will experience temperatures around 4-6℃ with local temperatures dropping below 10℃. Beginning from December 10 onwards, another cold front will move in and affect Inner Mongolia and north-eastern China. Further, the vast smog covering Eastern China will gradually dissipate due to the effects of the cold air.
