Claims of Tibet Closed to Foreigners Falsified

A netizen on Weibo recently disclosed a notice supposedly written by the Chengdu Tourism Bureau, claiming that from February 8th onwards, Tibet and the Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan were closed to foreigners. The Weibo post immediately attracted attention from tens of thousands of netizens. After investigating the credibility of the post, however, a journalist discovered that the Chengdu Tourism Bureau had actually never issued such a notice.
