According to the Chengdu Railway Bureau, high-speed sleeper trains from Chongqing to Beijing and Shanghai will begin service on January 11th, 2011. With the opening of the new high-speed train, travel time from Chongqing to Beijing and Shanghai will be less than 16 hours, reduced by 9 hours and 13 hours respectively.
