Chongqing Railway Station
Chongqing's main train station is located in Caiyuanba, next to the long-distance bus station. From this station direct trains to cities all over China can be caught, such as Beijing (23.5 hrs), Shanghai (27 hrs), Xian (10.5 hrs), and Chengdu (2 hrs). The Chengdu-Chongqing, Xiangfan-Chongqing, Guiyang-Chongqing, Dachuan-Wanzhou, Chongqing-Huaihua, Wanzhou-Yichang, Chongqing-Suining and Chongqing-Lanzhou (now under construction) lines all link to the national rail system.

Chongqing North Railway Station how has daily express trains running to Chengdu. The train journey is a two hours, first-class tickets seats are 117 RMB, and second class tickets are 98 RMB.

Visitors should buy tickets in advance wherever possible which can be done through most major hotels and at a large number of ticketing offices throughout the city.

There are three ways to buy train tickets in Chongqing: telephone booking, booking online and booking at the ticket window. Tickets can be booked via phone (call 9510 5105) as early as twelve days in advance and as late as four days in advance (including that day). Tickets ordered from 6:00-12:00 will be ready for pick up that day from 12:00-24:00. Tickets ordered from 12:00-23:00 will be ready for pick up that day from 0:00-12:00. Out of date tickets are void. Book tickets online at www.12306.cn from 7:00 to 23:00 as early as 12 days in advance. Tickets are sold at the station window as early as 10 days in advance.
