Escalators
The hilly terrain in Chongqing led to gigantic public-access escalators being built to link parts of the city. The longest in Chongqing – indeed the longest escalator in Asia - links the Chongqing Railway station and the Two Crossings /Shangqing Temple area.

Kaixuanlu Elevator
The Kaixuanlu Elevator was constructed in 1986. The elevator links Chuqimen and Jiefangbei with two cars, which can hold 21 people. The elevators were installed to solve the difficulty of crossing Guchengmen.

Huangguan Elevator
The Huangguan Elevator (皇冠大扶梯), also known as the Lianglukou Elevator (两路口大扶梯) connects Lianglukou and Chongqing Station. The elevator opened February 1996, and is 112 meters long (the longest escalator in Asia) with an incline of 30 degrees. The travel time is 2 minutes and 30 seconds and costs 2 RMB.

Guojiang Ropeway
Chongqing Zhucheng District has a unique cable car that crosses the Yangtze River. Located beside Jiefang Monument (解放碑), the cableway links Xinhua Lu (新华路) to Shangxin Jie Longmenhao (上新街龙门浩) in Nangang District on the other side of the Yangtze River (Xinhua Lu- Longmenhao). The ropeway is 1166 meters long and the journey across the river takes 4 minutes. The fare is 5 RMB normally, 1.8 RMB with a discount card. Hours of operation are 6:15- 21:45. While on the ropeway, passengers can see beautiful river views, Hong Cliff Cave (洪崖洞), Huguang Assembly Hall (湖广会馆), Nanbin Lu (南滨路) and other famous sights.

Shancheng Trails
The Shancheng Trails are located in Yuzhong Peninsula (渝中半岛) in Laocheng District.  Three trails have been completed: Shancheng Number 3 Trail from Yuzhong District Water Factory (渝中区水厂)  to Shibanpo Ancient City Ruins (石板坡古城墙遗址); Jianxingpo Shancheng Trail from Lianglukou (两路口) to Caiyuanba Chongqing Train Station (菜园坝重庆火车站); and the Qiansimen Trail from Mianhua Jiekou (棉花街口) to Jialing Jiangqian Simen (嘉陵江千厮门). There are plans to construct six additional trails in the future.

Shancheng Number 3 Trail is located at the bottom slopes of Yuzhong Peninsula and is 1.8 kilometers long. From east to west, landmarks along the path include Waike Hospital  (外科医院) (former Nationalist Government High Court), Kangjian Hall (抗建堂), Jingang Puti Pagoda (菩提金刚塔), Shibanpo (石板坡), Number 1 River Cliff Water Pagoda (第一水厂水塔), Yuqiushi (鱼鳅石), former site of the French Ren’ai Hall (法国仁爱堂旧址) and Shanchenggang (山城巷).
