Yesterday, more than 20 major online Chinese media companies jointly issued the “Beijing Internet Business Live-Broadcast Self-Regulation Convention.” The internet companies included Baidu, Sina, Sohu, Iqiyi, Leyue, Youku, Kuwo, Yingke, and Huajiao.

The convention states that from April 18 on, rooms used for Internet live-broadcasts will be marked with the company’s logo, content will be stored for 15 days, and all anchors will be certified through real-name registration.

Anchors who film live-broadcasts on politics, guns, drugs, violence, and broadcasts with pornographic content that do not meet certain standards will be blacklisted. The contents of live-broadcasts will be audited 24 hours a day in real time.

The live-broadcast industry in China has grown rapidly in recent years. 30% of entrepreneurs in Beijing work with webcasts. However, a there have been frequent incidents of pornographic live-broadcasts or broadcasts that advertise vices like drugs and gambling.
