China’s First Under-sea Tunnel Links up in Xiamen

Xiang’an Under-sea tunnel, the first under-sea tunnel in mainland China was linked up on November 5th after four years of construction. The tunnel has a total length of 8.695km, at a depth of 6.05km beneath the sea. The deepest point is 70m under sea level. It will shorten the driving time between Xiamen Island and Xiang’an District to eight minutes from the current time of 90 minutes.
