China’s Air Pollution Smothers a Quarter of China, Affects 600 Million People
Oct 09, 2013 By eChinacities.com

2013 has already proven to be another year of heavy smog (a.k.a. air pollution), with the dense pollution blanketing 17 provinces which approximately equates to a quarter of China’s total land mass, according to information released by the China Center for Disease Prevention and Control and the Institute of Environmental Health and Related Food Product Safety. Moreover, an estimated 600 million people are affected by the pollution – a worrying figure that has aroused attention by domestic and international media.

The China Center for Disease Prevention and Control also stated that plans are underway to develop a nationwide network to test for pollution and its effect on the population, a network that is estimated for completion in the next 3-5 years. This measure is to ensure that pollution levels are properly reported and to pave the way for policies and measures to effectively tackle China’s air pollution problem.

Pollution not affect you ???? How could someone say this ? I guess this is a Chinese person who really don't care about himself here !... as most of them don't care and they stay with kids outside and let them play even in heavy pollution !... I can't understand how a mother can do this , really... Is like you put your baby out to die early ! Pollution affect every part of your body, eyes, nose, full respiratory tract , kidneys, blood , appetite, everything ! So many peoples in China have a bad smell in their mouth and respiration ! This means a sinus infection which most of them don't know about and let it untreated developing in cronic sinusitis !

I found Carlstar's answer quite funny, actually. But maybe he was not being ironic. And China's population is far too big anyway... at least the government is doing something about that. Trust them, they got their priorities right. And those mothers don't really have a choice, do they? That's the beauty of it...

These numbers are so bad that they must be true. Even if they aren't, they are true enough. Measurements that are being made now indicate a huge problem affecting 10% of mankind, and what is next? '... plans are underway to develop a nationwide network to test for pollution and its effect on the population, a network that is estimated for completion in the next 3-5 years.' Sure... why hurry?

Relax, pollution is not going to hurt you. You will be fine. Everything will be fine...... Unless the 3 - 5 year study says otherwise, something that no other country or scientist have ever done. On a lighter note, burning plastic and huffing fuel will get you high.
