China Will Overtake US in Mobile Revenue This Year
May 29, 2014 By eChinacities.com

By the end of this year China will be the world leader in revenue from mobile sales surpassing the current leader, the US. China’s total revenue will increase a staggering 53 percent from last year and total 87 billion USD, compared to the 60 billion USD made from mobile sales in the US, up just 4 percent from last year. Worldwide increase in revenue will reach about 13 percent.

China will also sell 430 million units in 2014, while the US will sell only 163 million units. The boost in year-on-year numbers is partly down to Chinese companies such as Lenovo and Huawei making bigger impacts on local and international markets with higher end products. The sheer numbers in population difference is also a major factor, with China having a population nearly four times that of the US.

As 4G becomes more popular in mainland China, and as more signal towers are built for the network, so more people will convert and thus drive up sales once again. For now it definitely looks like the mobile phone market is migrating East.
