The 3rd China International Violin Competition began in Qingdao on October 11th. The competition, open to violinists of all nationalities, accepted 113 competitors who met the requirements. After the preliminary competition at the Royal Schools of Music (United Kingdom) last July, 45 violinists were selected for the final. The final consists of three rounds and will be held at the Qingdao Concert Hall and the Qingdao People’s Auditorium. The first place winner will receive 50,000 USD. Eleven judges from eight countries will evaluate the performances.

The China International Violin Competition has been held every three years in Qingdao since 2005, and is one of the three international music competitions organised by the Ministry of Culture. The competition plays an important role in discovering talented young violinists and promoting international culture exchanges.
