The starting rate for taxis in Chengdu is 8 RMB (VW Jetta) or 9 RMB (VW Sagitar) for the first 2 km, with a 1.9 RMB increase per km after that. Additionally, rides longer than 10 km or rides taken between 23:00-6:00 are subjected to additional charges.
Most taxi drivers in Chengdu are honest and quite familiar with local destinations and attractions. If you're new in town, consider asking them for advice on restaurants and entertainment. Remember to pay the fare according to the meter and to request an invoice in case you leave something in the taxi.
