Chengdu Polar Ocean World Opens to Business
Aug 03, 2010 By eChinacities.com

On July 28th, the Chengdu Haichang Polar Ocean World, with a total of 2 billion RMB invested, has opened for business. It stands as one of biggest ocean theme parks in the southwest region of China that not only serves home to a wide variety of polar region animals and other marine life but also features different animal performance shows.

At 8:30 on the day of the grand opening, ticket booths at the Ocean World were swamped with visitors eager to go in for a first look. In order to entertain visitors while queuing in long waiting lines, the venue also deployed several performers in stuffed costumes (polar bear, walrus, seal) who handed out little gifts as welcoming tokens.

At 9:50, guests that attended the grand opening pushed down a “South Pole Rock” together – thus opening the doors to the Polar Ocean World for the first time. Performers in stuffed costumes then accompanied guests and visitors into the theme park for a show featuring marine animals. It was estimated that around ten thousand visitors had come to the park on its grand opening day.
