Brief Intro to Tianjin Shopping

With products cheaper than Beijing and Shanghai but just as varied, Tianjin has garnered a reputation as China's new bargain-hunting destination. Shoppers throng Tianjin's famous antique markets and shopping centers seeking deals on clothes, high-quality handmade carpets, clay figurines and Wei brand kites.

Binjiang Dao (Street) is the best place to go for all your window-shopping and general merchandise needs. Department stores, boutiques, groceries, snack stalls, shoes, accessories, and a host of other products can be had at a steal. Quanye Bazaar Department Store - located on the corner of Heping Road and Changchun Road, has become a popular browsing destination thanks to its unique practice of rejecting mannequins in favor of using real people to model their products.

The most-frequented destination to prowl for antiques is Shenyang Street's antique market, which is less of a market and more of a honeycomb of streets and alleyways. But remember: the good stuff has to be bargained for!
