Brief Intro to Harbin Shopping

Harbin is a great place to enjoy the outdoors in both summer and the winter. Many people from all over China, Russia and Korea flock to the city for its shopping opportunities, attracted by the export and commodity fairs of local industries. Visitors to the city are usually most interested in local products, including agate from Longjiang, wheat-straw weaving, ox horn mosaics, Siberian ginseng and blackberries.

Enthusiastic shoppers will find that Harbin has much to offer. The city' s stores and markets offer a large selection of fur coats and name-brand clothing (though bear in mind that Chinese sizes are more widely available than Western sizes). Other local products include chum salmon, crucian carp, sturgeon, mandarin fish, bream, hedgehog and edible black mushrooms, as well as traditional medicines such ginseng and pilose antler. You can find these foods and local products at many local department stores and supermarkets. You will also see many Russian goods in the stores and markets, including hand-painted Russian dolls (matryoshki).

There are various streets where you can fill all your shopping needs. Expats flock to Central Street of Harbin, the famous Guogeli Street, Grand Shopping Center, Song Lei Commercial Mansion Ltd., Qiulin Company, Harbin No.1 General Merchandise Corporation and Hongbo Plaza. Bargain-hunters also love going to Harbin TLLI Wholesale Market Street, which is known for its reasonable prices.
