According to Chinese traffic law, it is illegal for bikes, electric bikes, and other non-motorized vehicles turning left at an intersection to head down the wrong side of the street against oncoming traffic. Those caught doing so will now be fined 5-30 RMB. In Chengdu (and every other city in China) such incidents are commonplace.
