The Beijing Municipal Government has decided that during the 2014 APEC meetings welcoming banquet there will be a fireworks display within the 5th ring road. If you are living in Beijing please do not be surprised by the fireworks.
On top of that, snow is possible within Beijing during the APEC meeting as the city battles pollution. The Beijing Municipal Environmental Monitoring Center predicts that Tuesday November 4 there may be moderate pollution, and that by Wednesday the air quality will improve until November 6 and 7.
APEC’s Yanxi Lake Center was shown to the outside for the first time, and it covers 9,000 square meters, and can accommodate up to 2,000 people. It has a 24 hour air ventilation system and a filtration system that will turn on automatically as soon as the air quality exceeds the limits, to protect all world leaders’ lungs.
The center will be open to the public media between 8:00 on November 10 and 00:00 on November 11.
