Nanchang covers an area of 7,402 square kilometers, inside the urban area of which over 3.31 million people live. Of the total residential population, 2.63 million are males, accounting for 52.23% and 2.41 millions are females, accounting for 47.44%. The majority of the population in Nanchang is Han (99.60%) and other minorities account for a population of more than 20,000 (0.40%).
