Daqing is made up of five districts and four counties, which form a total area of 21,219 square kilometers, with a population of over 2.9 million. The urban area of Daqing covers just over a quarter of the total area: 5,107 square kilometers. 1.46 million are males, making up 50.44% of the total resident population and 1.44 million are females, making up 49.56%. Daqing’s population is mainly comprised of Han, Manchu, Mongol, Korean and Hui groups, though there are smaller minority groups living in the city.
