Apple To Launch iPhone Trade-In Program in China
Mar 27, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Apple plans to launch a trade-in program for iPhones in China following the success of the company's trade-in scheme in the United States. The program resulted in a large boost of Apple sales in the United States. In the trade-in scheme, Apple customers will be able to trade in their own iPhones and receive store credit towards purchasing a newer model. In China, Foxconn will then renovate the old iPhones turned in by customers and sell them online. Foxconn and Apple are currently negotiating a deal in which the refurbished iPhones can be sold in stores.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has said that he hopes that China will soon surpass the US to become Apple's largest market. The company plans to double the number of Apple stores in Mainland China by August 2016. In the fourth quarter of last year, Apple netted record profits of $18 billion, partially thanks to the large Chinese consumer demand for the iPhone 6 Plus.
