The opening of the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway two years ago has severely dampened the profitability of direct flights between Tianjin and Nanjing, leading many airlines to cut back their flight routes. On April 23, the final four airlines that were still flying Tianjin-Nanjing direct flights officially ended their operations.
