Chinese Men #93 in World Height Rankings, Women Come in at #87

Which country has the tallest people in the world? Well, it’s certainly not China. An international research team recently reported that Dutch men are the tallest in the world (1.875 meters on average). Latvian women are the tallest in the world at 1.7 m on average. The shortest men are from East Timor (1.6 meters) and the shortest women are from Guatemala (1.49 meters).

The World Health Organization gathered 800 research teams from the UK, Switzerland, and other countries to complete the study. Height and nutrition data for adults from 1914 to 2014 was analyzed. The ten countries with the tallest men (in ranking order) are: the Netherlands, Belgium, Estonia, Latvia, Denmark, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Iceland, and the Czech Republic, The countries with the tallest women are: Latvia, the Netherlands, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Slovakia, Denmark, Lithuania, Belarus, and Ukraine.

Men are on average 1.718 meters tall in China, and women are 1.597 meters tall. Men are ranked 93rd in the world for height, and women are ranked 87th. Japanese men and women are 1.708 m and 1.583 m respectively. South Koreans are 1.739 m (men) and 1.623 m (women).
