American website Investing Contrarian (http://www.investingcontrarian.com) published an article stating that China has over 1,000 sex toy manufacturers – a statistic researched and released by the China Market Research center. In the past few years, annual production output for sex toys in China has reached over 2 billion USD (around 13.5 billion RMB). In the first five months of 2010 alone, production output has already reached 940 million USD.
The article also pointed out that South Africa is the largest importer of sex toys from China – nearly 20% of the Chinese-made “joy toys” are being exported to that country. South Korea and Russia were the second and third largest importers respectively. Only 2% of the products are imported by the United States.
Of all the sex goods manufactured in China, pleasure enhancing condoms were the most popular product, accounting for 21.5% of market share.
