TrendForce has published a report on the top ten smart phones of 2014 and Chinese brands have made it to six of those slots.

Global shipments of smart phones reached 1.167 billion in 2014; that’s an increase of 25.9 percent. China’s smart phone shipments reached 453.4 million, totaling 40 percent of global shipments.

TrendForce analyst Avril Wu said that China has gained more of a market share this year, although it is still lagging behind the two giants Samsung and Apple. The shipment levels of these two companies combined, reached 518 million and are still having a big impact on Chinese brands’ potential profit margins.

In terms of price, the most competitive Chinese brand is Xiao Mi. With an operating system that is comparable to international brands, the Xiaomi costs around 300-00 USD. Last year, the brand’s shipments reached 60 million, a 200 percent increase on 2013.
