The 2012 China Lhasa Shoton Festival is scheduled to begin in Lhasa August 17, and will run until the 23. This year’s Shoton festival includes: Traditional Buddhism themed shows and Tibetan Opera as the two main events, as well as yak racing, rodeo, and stone carrying competitions. There will also be the Namco walking based tourism activities, the first annual Tibetan opera competition, the “Shotan Star” National Singers Competition, a photography event, beer festival, Shotan festival car show and more.
