From November 2009 to April 2010 a series of basketball events will take place in Chengdu’s Sports Centres to raise money for the disaster areas of the Sichuan Earthquake. The first phase lasts until December 20th, with games held this coming Saturday and Sunday.
There will be about 18 professional teams participating throughout the tournament, including NBA Legend Stars and nine teams from ABA (American Basketball Association). There will also be eight teams from Europe and China’s only basketball team, Beijing Olympian. Funds raised will go to the Chinese Red Cross Foundation who will donate it to those most in need in Sichuan.
