On August 31st, the gravitational pull of the stars and planets along with the influence of the "Nanmadol" typhoon caused some of the biggest waves seen in years at the annual tide watching "festival" on Qiantan River in Hangzhou. Many people chose this day to go watch the surging times of the Qiantang, and they got quite a sight. The tide was so high that waves broke through the river embankment's guardrail, and hundreds of sightseers were knocked over by the tide's force. Among them, more than 20 people were injured.
