The 1st Beijing Sport Accord Combat Games will be held from August 28th to September 4th. 2,077 athletes from 106 different countries and regions will be participating in the games this year. Combat games is a new style of integrated sports organized by the former General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) or what is now called Sport Accord. The games are held every four years and include a variety of martial arts and combat sports recognized by Sport Accord; they include 13 competitive combat sports: martial arts, aikido, boxing, judo, ju-jitsu, karate, kendo, kickboxing, muaythai, sambo, sumo, taekwondo and wresting. Each event will be showcasing the world's top combatants and athletes competing at the games.

  

The Sport Accord Combat Games will be utilizing Beijing Olympics venues. The specific breakdown  is that judo, ju-jitsu, karate, taekwondo and kendo competitions will be held at the Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium; competitions for sumo, aikido, sambo and wrestling will be held at the China Agricultural University Gymnasium; Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium will be holding competitions for martial arts, kickboxing, muaythai and free-style boxing. The opening ceremony for the event will be held at the National Stadium.
