19 Killed in Bangkok Explosions Including 3 Chinese Citizens

19 people were killed and 117 were injured in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday night in two explosions near popular tourist destination Erawan Shrine.

12 victims died at the scene, and six more died from injuries in the hospital. Counselor and Deputy Consul General at the Chinese Embassy in Thailand Zhu Weidong confirmed that three Chinese citizens were killed in the blast, and 15 Chinese were wounded.

Local media reported a total of two explosions. The first bomb was strapped to a telephone pole in front of a Buddha. The suspect detonated the first bomb at 6:55 pm. Shortly after, a motorcycle bomb was detonated at the intersection, blowing up two taxis and the motorcycle itself.
