Escape the Hot Summer at Nanjing Underwater World

Escape the Hot Summer at Nanjing Underwater World

Nanjing Underwater World is located next to the beautiful scenery surrounding Meihua (Plum Blossom) Mountain in the mausoleum grounds dedicated to Sun Yat-sen. The theme park is home to over 200 species of fish and marine life and features a polar animal exhibit hall as well. One of the many attractions of the underwater world is the acrylic see-through tunnel you can stroll through. The tunnel allows you to immerse yourself in the sea world around you, from delightfully colored coral fishes to badass sharks. A visit to the venue is perfect for keeping cool in the hot summer and offers a variety of things to see and do.

One of the highlights at the Nanjing Underwater World is definitely the polar animal exhibit hall – home to polar bears, emperor penguins, sea lions, Arctic wolves, Arctic foxes, etc. The man-made ice and snow world at the exhibit hall offers an oasis of cool as visitors look out on the different animals from the Polar Regions. On February 1st this year, the jellyfish exhibit hall re-opened to visitors after a stint of renovations. The newly renovated hall exhibits a large collection of rarely seen jellyfish and includes the largest in quantity of this particular marine life in all of Asia.

There are also various performances scheduled at the venue each day – from shows with dolphins to the cute sea lions, they are guaranteed to be a delightful treat to kids and adults alike. There is also the ever so exciting “Shark and Man Swimming in Harmony” show and a fairytale presentation of a story about mermaids under the sea. Aside from the different shows, there are also other interactive activities including strolling in the underwater tunnel, playing with dolphins (for children only), and reserving for an underwater wedding, etc. Visitors can also opt to take pictures with the mermaid, dolphin, and sea lion after the show and can even get a hands-on training for feeding seals and polar bears. Nanjing Underwater World will remain open to 20:30 every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in the months of July and August – offering visitors a nice place to go in the humid summer nights.
