Sometimes as an expat in Beijing, it’s easy to feel like you have tried all the restaurants, been to all the stores, etc, so it’s always good to hear of a new place to try. We have all tried the Italian places and we all know where the good hole –in-the-wall dumpling places are. So why not venture out a bit and try Beijing’s Casablanca, known as Moro’s Moroccan Restaurant.

Moroccan? What exactly does that entail? Flavor, flavor, favor. Delicious herbs and garlicky mushrooms, couscous served with a sauce on the side with a ladle for smothering the beef. The most amazing dish is the Chicken Tagine with broth that you could sop up with pita alone and be satisfied. For a tangy and filling salad, start with the fresh arugula greens, sumptuous imported kalamata olives and tomato salad drizzled in perfectly seasoned balsamic vinaigrette.

If the food alone isn’t enough to impress you the service will. Youssef is the owner of this quaint little restaurant and will attend your table with jokes and stellar service. He is knowledgeable and has an excellent wine selection from all over the world. The food is savory and exotic, but won’t empty your wallet. Many of the dishes are around 70-120 RMB but will leave you full and deeply satisfied.

Venture out of the Orient and prepare your taste buds for a long awaited reward. This small restaurant is known among Chinese and expats alike for its quality reputation so make sure and reserve ahead of time. You won’t be disappointed…
