It used to be that if you wanted a good cup of coffee in Dalian you could only find it at one of the city's top line hotels. Fortunately, those days are over. While you can still get a quality cup at the hotel, there are often better and cheaper choices to be found in Dalian's now thriving coffee shop culture. A culture that due to Dalian's distinct history of influences from the East and West, incorporates both domestic and international styles and flavors. On a quiet, tree-lined street located right off Renmin Square is perhaps Dalian's oldest and best known local coffee shop. In addition to finding a wide selection of coffee and coffee drinks, I-55 also boasts a full menu with dishes ranging from salad to steak. I-55's main attraction however is still its coffee, and fresh baked goods which are made right there on the premises. With it's ideal location, spacious layout which provides customers with both inside and outside seating options and a host of on site entertainment including a collection of English books, WiFi access, and soothing music, I-55 is the closest you'll get to a "Mom and Pop" coffee stop in Dalian. Amici Cafe 欧米奇咖啡厅View In Map
If you feel comfortable spending a morning or afternoon sipping coffee, reading a book or surfing online, you'll feel right at home in one of the many Amici Cafes located around the city. Amici is one of Dalian largest chain of coffee shops and they have spared no expense to providing the perfect coffee getaway. At the Senmao Amici Cafe, what you'll notice first is the energetic and friendly staff that greet you almost before set foot into the cafe. Next you'll notice the plush layout which effectively incorporates intimate seating with more open and group-centric arrangements. Finally, after you get settled into your seat, you'll notice to great selection of coffee choices. The coffee is freshly roasted daily in the store and if you are particular to a certain roast you can buy a bag (whole bean or ground) for your home enjoyment. Starbucks 星巴克咖啡View In Map
Starbucks arrived in Dalian in September 2005, and since that time they have developed quite quickly as one of top coffee destinations of locals and expats alike. Starbucks' Dalian flagship store in located on the first floor of the Parkland Mall and it is everything you can want from a Starbucks. As you might expect, they have the coffee – roasted and brewed the same way it is at every Starbucks across the globe. They have the friendly and knowledgeable baristas who give you service with a smile. Of course there’s also the wide selection of coffee, and the lingo that you've grown to love, "one tall Cafe latte and a grande frappacino". They have the standard Starbucks environment: soft interior colors, lots of outside lighting, cushy sofas and WiFi access split between two floors. On the top floor you can order your drinks as well as enjoy a quiet cup sitting above the mall entrance, while the bigger, lower level provides a quieter seating area and plenty of people-watching opportunities. Taken together, Starbucks offers you an enjoyable escape back to home right in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Dalian. Staff and menus are bi-lingual.

Isiyaki Cafe offers a balance between the big Starbucks/Amici coffee chains and the independent homey-ness of I-55. It's a quiet café and restaurant that offers a Japanese interpretation of the classic Taiwanese cafe. Like many of the other Asian style cafes in Dalian, Isikaya offers a full menu of curries, noodle dishes and Japanese-styled meals in addition to a selection of coffee and tea. What sets Isikaya apart though is the ambiance: jazz music, comfortable and cozy seating, and friendly staff. This is not the place you'd come to surf the internet, but more likely read a good book or relax with some friends

Tina's Cafe Tina咖啡View In Map
Tina's Cafe is another place that hits the right balance, but with a great Chinese-Western fusion of themes. At Tina's, you get a great atmosphere that is spacious and quiet, with soft lighting and comfortable seating. The staff in friendly, and the coffee is good and reasonable priced. There is also a full menu of Chinese and Western style dishes in case you’re hungry, as well as WiFi access. A great place for a peaceful evening sip.
