A Wuhan district official was caught off guard at a televised discussion forum to discuss local issues when she was offered a contaminated tangerine by the host. The tangerine came from her district, Caidian District and had been blackened by pollution from a local cement mixing station.
District Chief Peng Qiaodi took the fruit and said that she accepted responsibility as her management had not been up to scratch. She then ate the fruit, saying that as she grew the bitter fruit, she would also eat it.
