According to a report in a South Korean publication on September 3rd, China’s fast growing economy and multitude of opportunities has attracted an influx of western models looking to strike gold in the Middle Kingdom; amongst them, Russian beauties seem to dominate in number and popularity.

According to reports, there is an increasing demand for western models in Chinese metropolitan and commercial hubs like Guangzhou and Shanghai. Western faces and beauties can increasingly be seen covering various fashion and e-commerce events, and on promotions throughout China. There are at least 200 models from Russia working in Guangzhou alone, with the same gathering of Russian models in Shanghai and Shenzhen as well. Though their earnings vary according to popularity and experience, most foreign models bring in about 100,000 to 500,000 RMB a month. Obviously, the high standard of wages for western faces in the Chinese modeling industry is one of the major lures for the models.

According to a media and marketing researcher in Shanghai, “Right now, Russian models take the lead in number ratios for the foreign faces in the Chinese modeling industry. Also, from a professional standpoint, they're also the most beautiful and Russia is one of those countries that just seems to breed striking beauty.”
