Scalpers Sell Shanghai Disneyland Tickets Online for 1,000 Yuan
Mar 28, 2016 By eChinacities.com

Shanghai Disneyland ticket sales officially opened today, but that hasn’t stopped scalpers from already posting questionably obtained tickets for exorbitant prices online. Scalped tickets were found for sale on Taobao, Weibo, and Baidu Tieba.

If you search “Shanghai Disney tickets,” on Taobao, there are over 250 results. There are about 60 official retailers for Shanghai Disneyland tickets. 5 of the results are postings by Alitrip, and 4 are from Xianyu, Taobao’s service for secondhand goods. All the tickets available are for the park’s peak opening period which runs from June 16 to 30.

A few tickets only required a 1 Yuan deposit, while others were priced at 1,000 Yuan. 1,000 Yuan is more than double the official ticket price. Other sellers offered a so-called “e-ticket,” for 499 Yuan (the real price of opening week tickets) but said that the buyer would have to pay a processing fee. The purchasing fee would drive the price up to 580 Yuan.

Netizens are offering up tickets on Weibo and Baidu Tieba as well for 400 to 600 Yuan each. Many are turning to resold tickets because they are worried that it will be difficult to get tickets from the official channels.
