A real life love-story has captured the hearts of netizens this week as photos of a man taking his wheelchair-bound girlfriend travelling went viral.

Ding Yizhou is planning to pull his girlfriend around China with the assistance of a mountain bike and a dog. The pair have already taken a two day hiking and camping trip in their hometown of Liuzhou to prepare for the adventure ahead. They embarked on the trip to fulfil the girlfriend’s dream of travelling around China, and the route they will take will form the shape of a heart.

Ding’s girlfriend-who wasn’t named in the Tencent report-suffers from a condition called cerebellar ataxia, which has left her unable to walk and with difficulties eating.

There has been an outpouring of praise and well wishes for the couple online, who told the media that it’s not the end goal that matters, but the process of pursuing their dream together.

While they're at it they might lobby the government for some reform in the way in which disabled people are discriminated against everywhere. Regularly see people being pushed along a busy road because the pavement is too constrained for wheelchairs.
