Jackie Chan Creates Controversy with “I Want Countries to Have Disasters” Comment
Oct 24, 2013 By eChinacities.com

At a North American screening of his new movie, CZ12, Jackie Chan aired some rather controversial views. When asked how he feels about the relationship between America and the mainland, he said, “Not only do I want America and China to cooperate, I want the whole world to cooperate.” Now no one can get upset with this, countries should cooperate more. But Jackie Chan went on and the next part of his statement left many a bit confused; “I shouldn’t say this but sometimes I want to see countries have natural disasters, like a tsunami or an earthquake.” Urm, what did you just say Mr. Chan!??...

Don’t worry, if you just became very concerned about the sanity of the Kungfu master, it seems he just phrased his feelings a bit strangely, rather than having become a sadistic billionaire. Realising how it sounded, Jackie quickly added, “Because when there is a disaster you immediately see the whole world becoming a family and helping the country, this make me very happy.” OK, OK he is digging himself out….oh no wait he has turned around to dig it a bit bigger, “With no tsunami, no earthquake, it is all about politics, you hit me, I attack you, I don’t like to see this sort of thing.” Well OK then.

This isn’t the first time Jackie Chan has made some peculiar statements. In January 2013 he said, “Is America corrupt? It is the most corrupt!” This, as one would imagine, didn’t go down too well. Do you understand the meaning behind his latest controversial statement? One can sort of see what he means if you look carefully, but perhaps he should avoid saying things like “I wish countries would have disasters” in the future. It just makes him sound like a bit of a wing nut.

Talk about nitpicking. His line of reasoning isn't that hard to follow or alien to anyone's ears, it's just that he started the sentence with "I want". The thing is, the sad reality is that he is right. Only in the face of natural disasters do we become united as humanity. (Except for those Westboro Baptist assholes but then again their sole purpose on earth is to hate.)
