“Good Samaritans” in Beijing Wash Old Street Peddlers’ Feet

On December 6 at around 4:30 pm, a post on Weibo was published that claimed that a number of “good Samaritans” on the east side of Beijing’s Chaoyang Vivid Plaza arrived with basins of hot water in order to wash the feet of the street peddlers and hawkers working in the square.

The foot washers did not give their names and quickly left after the job was finished. They have been praised by Chinese Netizens for their actions. Reporters visited the site and learned that the group had consisted of at least four girls and one boy. They had claimed that the reason for their actions were love and caring.

In the photo posted on Weibo by user “An国君”, an elderly man wearing a coat is sitting in the square of the plaza. To his right, is a long-haired woman sitting and chatting with the old man. In front of the man, a woman wearing an orange jacket is kneeling on the ground with her hands in a pink basin meant for the old man’s feet. Netizens claim that the old man was just passing through the plaza and “saw the two well-meaning people helping the elderly and washing their feet with hot water. They asked the old man if he had eaten dinner and if he was hungry. It was very moving.”

Ah, there is good in the world!

I couldn't give them enough praise. To do something like this in today's China...
