FIFA’s official Instagram account posted a picture of Chinese football fans staying up late into the night to watch the World Cup at a Beijing noodle shop, admiring their dedication to the tournament.
The caption reads: ‘This is truly a #Worldcup. #Fans in #Beijing #China watch on TV outside a store’. Although hanging out watching sport in a noodle shop is far from unusual in China, they aren’t wrong about Chinese fans’ dedication to the World Cup, especially when you consider the inconvenient schedule.
Football mania has gripped China in the past month, despite the fact that China’s national team failed to make the cut this year.
